Letter Writing Campaign

Please consider sending a letter to one of the prisoners in Guantanamo.  It is our hope that by flooding the prison with letters of support and solidarity, prison officials will take note that the world has not forgotten the hunger strikers.  A letter written by Witness Against Torture can be downloaded and printed off here.

When writing to the prisoners please ensure you include their full name and ISN (internment serial number) below (these are the numbers before their names, i.e. Shaker Aamer ISN 239).

Please address all letters to:

Detainee Name
Detainee ISN
Guantánamo Bay
P.O. Box 160
Washington, D.C. 20053
United States of America

Please also include a return address on the envelope.  Below is a list of the 166 remaining prisoners.  Thanks to Andy Worthington for keeping track of all them.

  6. Lisa L Thornburgh JD says:

Thornburgh v US Department of Energy (2009), Thornburgh v US Department of Defense (2006) See also Physicians for Human Rights Reports (Illegal human subject experimentation on Guantanamo Bay prisoners and also on US citizen-civilians outside ORNL, NFS). Brain linking projects (not only on lab rats, but on humans – DARPA project – State of Maryland, Governor O’Malley supported along with Maryland Dutch Ruppersberger, et al). Personally tortured by electromagnetic radiation weapons by local law enforcement in 2005. Local law enforcement deputies and police officers are covers for CIA, NSA personnel in area. Others include teachers, librarians, judges, lawyers, physicians (several with DoD contracts and training with Loma Linda in California where veterens were used as mind control guinea pigs.) Isolated and suffering in an artificially created and controlled environment. Lisa L Thornburgh JD

  7. Margaret A. Flanagan says:

I want to write, but there is a brown panel across the ISN numbers, so I can’t read the whole number. I fasted today, the first day I read the email about this.

  8. Liberata says:

Last evening I started using HootSuite to schedule Facebook posts and Twitter tweets with the names of the detainees. Several posts/tweets with the names of 2 or 3 detainees will go out each day. I’m hoping to do a blog post by Friday also. Started sending personal notes to each detainee this evening.

If anyone had told me 12 years ago that my country would kidnap people, torture them, and hold them in a lawless no-man’s land, I would never have believed it. And if anyone would have told me in 2008 that President Obama wouldn’t put everything he had into fighting for their release, I wouldn’t have believed that either. So here I am, at 60 years of age, older and wiser, not to mention sadder.

Happy Easter, Happy Passover, Happy Spring.
God bless all prisoners of conscience and political prisoners everywhere and grant them freedom.

Already sent numerous letters. But will do so again. Actually, one came back, as undeliverable. I pray that is because he was already set free.
