*National Day of Action to Close Guantánamo *

On January 11, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM, the Merrimac Valley Local Amnesty International Group will be holding a solemn procession and vigil in Newburyport demanding the closure of Guantánamo prison.

On this day in 2002, the United States transferred the first detainees to Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. Six years later, hundreds of people of more than 30 nationalities remain held there without fair trial as required by International Law.

Participants will gather at Brown Square (across from City Hall) and march up Green Street to the Court House on High Street

Bring Candles and posters -keep the message simple... SHUT IT DOWN!
